Bangladesh Paper Mills Association (BPMA)
Bangladesh Paper Mills Association (BPMA) is the
national level representative organization of private sector paper, paper
products and Newsprint manufacturers of Bangladesh. The Association was
established in 2002 under the Companies Act 1994 and duly registered with the
Directorate of Trade Organization (DTO), Ministry of Commerce and Government of
Bangladesh. It is also affiliated with the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of
commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
Since its founding BPMA has played a significant role
in the development of paper industry of Bangladesh. With the number of
companies increasing gradually in the recent years, various problems concerning
the Paper sector cropped up requiring early solution. At this stage to promote
the progress of the papermaking industry Bangladesh Paper Mills Association
(BPMA) was formed with 19 Founder members.
The paper manufacturers have been increasing their
production capacity to meet the country’s demand for various types of paper.
The industry has attained self-sufficiency in meeting the domestic demand for
all grades of paper and paper products and also exports to many countries. It
provides employment to more than 50 thousand people directly and 1.5 million
people indirectly. Most of the paper mills are in existence for a long time and
hence present technologies fall in a wide spectrum ranging from oldest to the
most modern.
BPMA acts as the bridge between the government and the
member organizations to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of
members.
