Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) is the apex body representing the pharmaceutical companies of Bangladesh. Since its inception in 1972, BAPI has been playing a key role in developing the pharma sector in the country to promote access to affordable drugs. Closely working with the industry and regulatory authorities, the association promotes understanding of good manufacturing practices (GMP), and rightful implementation to ensure quality of the medicines.

Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI), the stalwart association of pharmaceutical manufacturers of the country was instituted in 1972. Since then BAPI playing a pivotal role in shaping up the industry. Associations’ members include large, medium, small national and foreign companies who together are responsible for 97% of the country’s requirement. This indeed prove the success of BAPI as a respectable and acceptable body.

Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) was established in 1972 with 23 members companies. Today BAPI has as good as 149 companies as its member. BAPI is the one and only recognized association of pharmaceutical companies’ in Bangladesh. BAPI has been enrolled as member of International Federation of pharmaceutical manufacturers & Association (IFPMA), Geneva.

Since its inception BAPI has not been only upholding interest of Pharmaceutical manufacturers but BAPI is working for the healthcare of local population also. BAPI is closely working with member companies about cGMP, skilled manpower and export excellence. BAPI has been working also with international organizations and authorities about export quality products from Bangladesh.

BAPI has been successfully organizing Asia Pharma Expo since 2003. Asia Pharma Expo has been serving as a place of great interest for local and international manufacturers of API, Finished goods and machineries. It has been a great success of BAPI. The 9th Asia Pharma Expo is going to be held 23-25 February, 2017.

It actively negotiates with the government and other relevant authorities to protect the interests of the industry eventually for the larger benefit of the common people.

BAPI organizes awareness programs, workshops and seminars on evolving regulatory and compliance issues, counterfeit and adulterated drugs, role of generics in healthcare, technological advances in the industry, global pharma landscape and various other topics.

It also organizes roadshows and exhibitions and participates in international events and exchange programs to promote our pharma industry to the global marketplace.

Bangladesh is emerging as a generic drug hub in the region which is now ideally positioned to meet the contract manufacturing needs of global MNCs through its competitive generic drug skills. BAPI has been playing a leading role in taking Bangladesh pharma industry to the world, for the greater benefit of the people across all the continents, by promoting access to generics which are affordable.
